He is God. He can do no wrong.

Keep McChrystal; fire Obama. The former has a long record of outstanding service to the nation. The latter has no record and no experience of any kind; that such is person should be called "commander in chief" is laughable.
James Dunton - Washington, DC
I totally support General McChrystal. He has served our country well. To get dismissed like this is amazing.

There are very good guidelines for serving officers on how to (and how not to) oppose government policy. Ill-advised comments in magazine articles is not one of them. Speaking out in public fora is normally done after retirement. The general stopped being a 'serving' general the moment he took this step.

One should stick to his job.

First of all, I voted no, Obama doesn't, but the truth of the matter, my answer was really more in tune with the qustion, "was it right for him to do so?" Obama may have the right by virtue of his position, but the President showed how trite and personal he can be with the power of his post, which is not befitting any political.

Generals should know better than to 'bad-mouth' and thereby undermine the authority of the administration they work for. In my experience they would not hesitate hang out to dry any subordinate who expressed similar views. A prime example of sauce for the goose etc.
Bernard Price - RNSME
Small wars are for politicians, big wars are for politicians that fail. The public can play it both ways and the politicians owe the public everything(Or at least the humble taxpayer-there's ingratitude for you).

I suppose on one side of the coin, the general did break the regulations relating to press reports and interviews. Due to the sensitivities the WoT generates, it is logical the general's political masters would be none-to-impressed.
Flip the coin, the general should have the right, like any other individual to express his opinion...it sounds like he called a spade a spade!
